Privacy Policy

1. The App (DesktopCat desktop application)

The DesktopCat app monitors keyboard activity and mouse position locally on your device to trigger pet animations. This input is processed in memory only — it is never stored, reconstructed, or transmitted anywhere.

The app contains zero analytics or telemetry. No usage data, crash reports, or identifiers leave your machine. The only network activity the app performs is checking for software updates viareleases.desktopcat.com.

macOS requires you to grant Accessibility and Input Monitoringpermissions for the typing animation to function. These permissions are governed by macOS and are revocable at any time from System Settings → Privacy & Security.

2. This website (desktopcat.com)

We collect the following data when you use the website:

• Account data: email address and hashed password (if you register with email/password), or the email address returned by Google OAuth. Used to identify your account and send order-related transactional emails.
• Order data: the cat name, breed, and photos you upload when placing a custom character order. Required to produce your character.
• Payment identifiers: a Creem payment reference ID. We do not store full card numbers or bank details — those are handled by Creem.
• Usage analytics: page views collected via Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-preserving and does not use cookies or fingerprinting.

3. Third-party processors

Your data may be passed to the following processors to fulfil your order. By placing an order you acknowledge this:

• AI image & video generation services — We use the GPT Image 2 image generation model to create three-view concept sheets from your pet photos. The character production process may also involve video generation models. Your photos are sent to these services for processing. Crop out people and home environments before uploading.
• Creem — international payment processor. Handles card charges and issues receipts.
• Neon — PostgreSQL database hosting. Stores account and order records.
• Cloudflare R2 — object storage. Stores uploaded photos, generated concept sheets, and delivered .desktopcat files. Access is private and requires authentication or a short-lived signed URL.
• Vercel — website and API hosting. Processes all web requests.

4. Data retention

Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Order assets (photos, concept sheets, character files) are retained to allow lifetime re-downloads. You may request deletion at any time by contacting us — we will delete your account and all associated files within 30 days.

5. Your rights
